I visited Copenhagen in May 2022 with four friends. I left feeling like I wanted to move there. This may have been helped by the Spring weather, so I intend on visiting in Winter to dispel my dreamy memory of this city.

⚡ TLDR

The bakeries are insanely good, the city is pleasant to be in and the people are lovely. Keep an eye out for statues everywhere you walk.

The traffic priority hierarchy is: bikes, people, cars.

🛌 Accommodation

⭐ It wasn’t the most luxurious place to stay but it was worth it for the novelty and location. We were on the doorstep of the government buildings and close enough to walk back from most places we visited.

The toilet had shower curtains to turn into a shower-cubicle, which was by far the worst thing. However, enjoying my morning coffee on the deck made it worth the awkward showering situation.

🍽️ Food

Bakeries

Seriously, make a bakery visit the first thing you do every day. My favourite pastry was a tebirkes.

• ⭐ Juno the bakery: Two Michelin-star chefs opened a bakery and it’s elite-tier. Be prepared to queue, but it’s worth it. I bought 4 day’s worth of pastries so I didn’t have to queue again and every single one banged. I also paid 10ish quid for a sandwich but it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
• ⭐ Andersen & Maillard Nørrebro: Cube croissant.
• Lagkagehuset: I didn’t realise this was a chain when I went. That probably says something about the base level of quality.

• Sankt Peders Stræde: Very old, very good.

Restaurants / Places to eat

• ⭐ Reffen: A food market with each stall in a shipping container.
• ⭐ North Atlantic House: Not actually the food location, but right by here is a food stall market with loads of options. (I can’t find the name of it.)
• ⭐ Torvehallerne: Food hall with a stall selling stunning open sandwiches. So beautiful you’ll feel guilty eating them.
